With widespread acceptance the scooter is fast becoming the choice of transportation for many people. There are tons of manufacturers out there, that make great quality scooters. They are one of the largest innovations in transportation history. They can be categorized on the basis of the operations mode, function and wheel model. You will find numerous types out there including the skateboard design, executive scooters, freestyle model, folding scooters, gas motorized models, electric motorized units, and three-wheel folding models. Imagine folding a scooter into the size of a suitcase! Depending on your riding style, there is one adapted to your requirements.

The two-wheeled and three-wheeled are currently the most popular. The two-wheeled model is the standard for the folding line up. They are compact in size and come made of steel or aluminum. Folding scooters are super lightweight and you can even carry them on a bus, van, car or other vehicle. Most manufacturers carry replacement parts, but you have to be careful that you find one that has a readily available supply, as many don't. Find a manufacturer that has a good representation in North America, such as verucci scooter, Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki.

Another very popular type is the executive scooter. It has handbrakes and large wheels made of polyurethane which area bout 180mm wide. Remarkably tough, they handle the bumps and glide along really easy, providing a smooth fast ride. Older kids and adults use larger wheeled scooters. You can even fold it if you want.

One of the most distinguished scooters on the market is the skateboard model. It is a culmination of a scooter and a four-wheeled skateboard. They come with fixed handlebars, and you steer them just like a regular skateboard. One drawback though, they have smaller wheels and are usually slower than other models. You can do trick riding with them which makes them a lot of fun to ride.

The freestyle scooter is another model that can be used for freestyle riding. It has a kick tail, which has part of the deck extending upward over the back wheel. It has become very popular. Another type of popular scooter is the three-wheeled folding model, which you can fold up after use. It has one wheel in the front and two in the back with 100mm inline skate-style wheels. Three-wheeled scooters are a combination of a skateboard scooter and a folding scooter and enjoy features of both.

Gas powered and electric powered scooters offer the most power of any type and are easy to drive. They are widely used for short and long distance driving. Gas scooters are not permitted in some areas so you are advised to check local regulations before riding. Have fun and enjoy this great world of motorized entertainment!
